Independent financial advisors, Financial Design, based in Kenilworth and Warwick, are ready to sharpen their pencils so that your investments work harder for you. DESIGNS ON YOUR FINANCE

Summer is now on its way but what about a Spring Clean of your finances with Financial Design ?

"How many payslips are you still likely to receive?” Sit down before you reach for your calculator – it’s less than you think.

That’s just one of the questions that consultants at Financial Design, independent financial advisors in Kenilworth and Warwick, are asking their clients during their ‘Spring Clean Your Finances’ campaign which began this week.

Partner at Financial Design, Peter Randle, says that a salaried 40-year old who plans to retire at 60 only has another 240 pay cheques to look forward to, and with dwindling state support this needs to provide for the bulk of their needs after retirement.

"If you’re like most of us, your income is already earmarked for remaining mortgage and car repayments, school and university fees and if there’s any left over, the annual holiday in Cornwall or Spain”.

However, there is some good news and there are a number of factors at present which, says Peter, could make it worthwhile to review your overall financial situation.

"As recently as 1990 the Bank of England Base Rate was 14%, compared with the current 3.75%, so borrowing is relatively cheap. * House prices have risen strongly in recent years and you may find that this substantial asset is worth more than you think – and this could create a number of alternative investment opportunities."

According to Alliance & Leicester’s latest moving improving index almost one in four UK mortgage holders are considering changing their mortgage within the next 12 months and we can almost certainly find more affordable ways of buying and owning your own home. On top of this, stock markets are uncertain and clients may wish to consider alternative investments.

"Given these factors, it’s a good time to get professional advice and Financial Design has a broad base of experience and knowledge in handling personal finance which will benefit our clients and their families.

"There is to the prospective buyer a bewildering choice of investment products and we believe we can help identify the right solution, or package of solutions, to deliver the financial results our clients are looking for,” said Peter.

"We often find that our clients are pleasantly surprised that by a simple rearrangement of their finances we can achieve improvements in their projected wealth and overall security, with little or no increase in monthly outlay,” he said.

Financial Design are able to advise on a broad spectrum of financial matters and in their ‘Spring Clean’ campaign are drawing special attention to topical issues such as inheritance tax, where there are likely to be ways of reducing the tax liability, pensions and the implications of a Green Paper on pensions, and planning for health care as less monies become available from national insurance coffers.
